Guided Hints

Three hints before the answer. Always.

A layered hint system that is enforced on the server, so the tutor never has an answer to give away. Each tier narrows the problem a little more until the student can finish it.

What you get

What makes Guided Hints different.

01

Tier 1 · Nudge

A directional question — “what are you noticing?” — that points the student at the right idea.

02

Tier 2 · Focus

A focusing question that isolates the step where the reasoning is stuck.

03

Tier 3 · Scaffold

The first step is shown and the rest stays hidden for the student to complete.

04

Worked example

Last resort: the same pattern with different numbers, never the original answer.

How it works

Three steps to get going.

  1. Try first

The student makes an attempt before any hint unlocks.

  2. Unlock in order

Each tier opens only after the one before it has been considered.

  3. Finish solo

The student completes the original problem themselves.

Who it's for

Built for everyone around the learner.

Students

Get unstuck without losing the satisfaction of solving it.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can a student skip straight to the answer?

No. The hint order is enforced by the server, not the chat, so it cannot be talked around.

What if the student is still stuck after three hints?

They get a worked example with the same shape and different numbers, then return to their own problem.
