Set up a geometry session

  1. Open the Setup Wizard

In the tutor lobby, choose Setup Wizard at the top (or Customize). The wizard builds a focused session in four quick steps.

  2. Pick your level — Advanced

Build on Basics revisits foundations, Advanced (recommended) works at grade level, and Expert moves faster with harder problems. Then press Continue.

  3. Choose how you learn — Step-by-step

Direct gets to the point, Step-by-step explains every move, In-depth adds the why behind each idea, and Guide me teaches through questions.

  4. Choose Math, then the focus area — Geometry

Select Math. A Focus area in Math row appears (General Math, Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Probability and more). Picking one keeps every explanation, example and practice question on that topic.

  5. Pick a buddy and start

Choose a learning buddy — Sage is calm and methodical, a favourite for math — then press Start Session.

Solve a right-triangle problem

Right triangle, legs 6 cm and 8 cm: hypotenuse and areaGrades 8–9
  1. Pythagorasc² = 6² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100a² + b² = c² for right triangles.
  2. Square rootc = √100 = 10Lengths are positive.
  3. AreaA = ½ × 6 × 8 = 24A triangle is half the 6 × 8 rectangle.
Answer: Hypotenuse 10 cm, area 24 cm²
Check: 6-8-10 is the 3-4-5 triangle doubled ✓
  1. Describe the shape

Give the measurements and what you need to find.

Try it“A right triangle has legs of 6 cm and 8 cm. What is the hypotenuse, and what is the area?”
  2. Do the working — mistakes welcome

Maya gets the hypotenuse right (10 cm) but forgets the ½ in the area formula. The tutor catches it and explains why a triangle is half of a rectangle.

    Try it“36 + 64 = 100, so the hypotenuse is 10 cm. And the area is 6 times 8 = 48?”
  3. Ask for a diagram

A labelled diagram makes the legs, hypotenuse and right angle obvious.

Try it“Can you draw a labeled diagram of this triangle?”
