High school math (9–12)
The Study Studio, Socratic mode, graphs and instant summaries — solving a quadratic equation the way a great teacher would: by asking the right questions.
The Study Studio
From grade 9 the lobby becomes the Study Studio, with all eight subjects (including Exam Prep) and goals built for older students:
| Goal | What it does |
|---|---|
| Explain | Clear, complete teaching of a topic. |
| Practice / Quiz | Questions at your level, marked with explanations. |
| Check | Show your working — the tutor finds the first mistake. |
| Time crunch | Exam tomorrow? The essentials, fast. |
| Socratic | The tutor guides you with questions so you discover the method. |
| Review | Feedback on written explanations and proofs. |
Open the Study Studio
You'll see the Ask box, subjects, goals, recommendations and recent sessions.
Walkthrough: a quadratic, Socratic style
- Find the pair(−2) × (−3) = 6, (−2) + (−3) = −5Numbers that multiply to c and add to b.
- Factor(x − 2)(x − 3) = 0Rewrite the quadratic as a product.
- Zero productx − 2 = 0 or x − 3 = 0If a product is zero, one factor must be zero.
Type the equation
Use
^for powers —x^2means x squared. The tutor shows it as proper math.Try it“Solve x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0”Choose the Socratic goal
Instead of Start, pick Socratic. The session opens straight away in question-led mode.
Answer the tutor's guiding question
The tutor asks: which two numbers multiply to 6 and add to −5? That one question is the key to factoring.
Factor and finish
Maya finds −2 and −3, so
(x − 2)(x − 3) = 0. The tutor confirms and has her finish: x = 2 or x = 3.Try it“-2 and -3! So (x - 2)(x - 3) = 0?”See it on a graph
Ask for a graph: the parabola crosses the x-axis at exactly 2 and 3 — the algebra and the picture agree.
Try it“Can you graph y = x^2 - 5x + 6 so I can see the solutions?”Summarize for revision
Tap Summarize this to turn the session into short revision notes.
Tips
Keep learning
Calculus
Differentiate a polynomial with the power rule, find the slope at a point, graph the tangent line, then integrate — rules, meaning and pictures together.
Math topicsStatistics & probability
Find the mean, median and mode of a data set, see it as a chart, and work out a two-dice probability — every count shown.
Ways to learnExam prep
Two ways to get test-ready: a quick quiz session from the lobby, and the full Exam Prep area with exams, timed mocks, gap analysis and study plans.
